The 17th Annual Riverfront Beautification Event will focus on landscaping, cleaning up debris and litter, planting trees and flowers, and several other projects along the Riverfront. The Saginaw City Council will soon undertake deciding what recreational marijuana facilities, if any, should be allowed to operate in the city. Please take a moment to tell us what you think about recreational marijuana facilities operating in Saginaw. Your complete name and City address must be provided in order for you to submit your survey, but, to the extent allowed by law, it will not be disclosed by the City. Only one survey may be completed per IP address. The passage of Proposal 1 in November of 2018 effectively legalized the use and possession of certain amounts of marijuana by adults. Proposal 1, or the Michigan Taxation and Regulation of Marijuana Act, also provides for the development and licensing of certain types of marijuana facilities. Those facilities are: Growers have licenses to cultivate marijuana plants. Processors have licenses to process and package marijuana. Secure Transporters have licenses to transport marijuana between facilities. Safety Compliance Facilities have licenses to test marijuana for contaminants and potency. Retailers have licenses to sell marijuana to individuals 21 and over. Microbusinesses are single facilities that have licenses to cultivate a small number of marijuana plants, and process, package, and sell marijuana to individuals 21 and over. Click here to vote -- CITY TREASURER RECEIVES NATIONAL CERTIFICATION The City of Saginaw is proud to recognize City Treasurer Heather Pozenel for earning her Certified Public Funds Investment Manager Certification offered through the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada. As a Financial Officer for the City of Saginaw, this recognition will provide Heather with the training and knowledge to wisely manage investments for the City of Saginaw. Heather attended the training with 52 of her peers on January 15 and 16, 2020 in conjunction with the Michigan Municipal Treasurerâs Association Winter Workshop in Lansing. The CPFIM certification program is designed to provide Financial Officers with the confidence and knowledge to manage investments better. Participants attend training on Investment Instruments; Banks, Brokers & Advisors; Cash Flow; Governance & Your Investment Policy; Safety, Liquidity & Yield; and Defining Your Strategy. With a deep look into Analysis and Investment Strategy, attendees gain a more thorough knowledge of how to quantify an investment policy objective and the tools needed to achieve it. By completing the program and obtaining the certifications, Heather has confirmed to the City of Saginaw and its citizens that she is a qualified investment manager. Ms. Pozenel began her career with the City of Saginaw in 1988 in the Parks and Recreation Division. Throughout her career, Heather has demonstrated knowledge, aptitude and commitment to the City of Saginaw. UPDATE ON K9 DEEBO Deebo is doing well given his circumstances and had a follow-up veterinary visit today. There is some swelling due to the trauma and the muscles that were torn from the knife that had to be surgically corrected. As you can see from the attached photos, Deebo has multiple stitches external as well as internal along with a drain tube sewn in place to reduce pressure and reduce swelling. The drain tube was scheduled to be out today but was left in place by Deeboâs family veterinarian due to the concerns with the swelling.
